Orleans Technical Institute believes tuition costs should not prevent qualified and interested individuals from enrolling in its programs. All applicants are invited to meet one-on-one with a member of our Student Financial Services Department to help determine what types and amounts of financial aid s/he may be eligible for. The Institute will make every effort to assist applicants in applying for financial aid and/or set-up a reasonable payment plan while in school.

Our Financial Aid objective is to provide every student with the maximum amount of financial assistance he or she is legally entitled to receive. To accomplish this we will provide quality customer service, properly administer Federal and State aid, and any other funds received from third party fund sources.

Each student will receive a personal interview with a Financial Aid Officer to assist students in completing an affordable Estimated Financial Aid/Payment Plan.

Scholarships

Orleans Technical Institute offers a High School Scholarship Award Program for those interested in our Building Trades or Court Reporting programs.

Scholarships may also be available for Orleans Tech students from outside sources. These scholarships are not guaranteed or offered every year. The availability of the funds and the award amounts may vary, depending on the funding source.

Most of the outside scholarships require that the student have financial need, provide letters of recommendation, meet satisfactory attendance and academic standards and participate in interviews.

An exit interview is required if funds are awarded.

Any unused portions of scholarship funds will be returned to the funding source for recipients that do not complete their program of study in which the funds were awarded.

Transfer Students

There are a number of steps you must take when transferring from one school to another. If you received financial aid at the first school, it will not automatically transfer to the second.

Students may visit the following website to access information concerning their financial aid history from their prior and current school: www.nslds.ed.gov

- If you have a Pell Grant, you must request a duplicate of your Student Aid Report (SAR/ISIR)* from the central processor. You will need your DRN (Data Release Number) from your original Student Aid Report. For a duplicate SAR/ISIR you can either request your school to make the request electronically on your behalf, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov , call 1-800-433-3243 or send your request in writing to:

Students Selected for Verification

You may be selected for verification by either the U.S. Department of Education or by Orleans Technical Institute. Verification means proving that what you report on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is correct. If selected, you will be asked to verify any of the following information:

  • Adjusted Gross Income
  • Federal Income Tax Paid
  • Your Household Size
  • Certain Untaxed Income and Benefits Received
  • The Number of Family Members Enrolled in Postsecondary Education at least half time* (parents can not be included in this number).

The Financial Aid Officer may request documents pertaining to untaxed income, benefits received, federal tax returns from you, your spouse and/or parent's. You will be required to explain any inconsistent or unusual information prior to receiving Federal Student Aid. Orleans Technical Institute is required by Federal regulations to make referrals to the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Justice if it is suspected that aid was requested under a false pretense.

You will be called in to discuss and sign a revised statement if there are any changes in your estimated financial aid awards after the verification process is complete.
